I actually designed this way back in July when the GazettE's single, "SHIVER" was released. I was desperate to design something and the b-side from that single "HESITATING MEANS DEATH" really spoke to me, so I decided to see what would happen if I tried to design a poster.
Not ecstatic with the result, but it's OK. I really like what I was able to do with the bullets. Check out the original song and the lyrics if you get the chance.
Well done execution. I like how you've left DEATH partially outside the image and focused HESITATING MEANS with the position and the stripes. The bullets are also just right, the WIP with shadows on them was just too complicated. Good on you for keeping it simple!
first of all, i love the concept. i like its simplicity and poster form. bullets were great idea. also good you changed the background, red suits it better and is stronger in it expression. great concept (to great song ^ ^), congrats.
Thank you! The red suits it better too, in my opinion. I think I could have easily made it a much rougher, dirtier design (a direction you can see I was originally going for with the first WIP), but the message it conveys for me isn't terribly complicated, and I wanted my design to reflect that.
i think it dont need anything more, i think simplicity is the best in that case some more effects, different fonts will make it more blurry, i think. your design really reflects on the message and it's good.
let me aks you, do you plan more gazette relater posters like that? i'm asking cos i find it extremely interesting.
I think I've got enough going on with school right now and other projects, but I wouldn't rule it out. It's fun, and if I find any other GazettE songs inspire me like this one did, I definitely won't hesitate to put my own interpretation out there.
Yeah, I think I did too! I've gotten into the habit of saving snapshots of my work as I go along, and it is always so interesting to look back on. I think it's interesting for other people to look at too; this way they can see how my intentions evolved.
I actually kind of like the hand-scribbled "Death", but I felt it didn't fit in with the direction I was going with for the rest of the piece, so I ditched it. On it's own though, I still like the feeling of it.
I'm really happy with how this one progressed from start to finish.

I'm VERY glad you didn't use the hand-scribbled "Death." It would have felt more like art and less like design.
Your composition is great as usual. Frankly, I'm jealous. Haha~

Thank you!
though that poster, for some reason, reminds me of John Woo's Hard Boiled
