Description

Interpretations of MOON 4 (the final): REdemption
If it is words of compassion, they can’t save me
The only sacrifice I can make to this never-ending battle is myself

Someday we shall all return to the heavens
Farewells are unnecessary

We, as humans, regardless of their age, race, or background exist with a balance of both a good side and a dark side, or strengths and weaknesses; to realize and accept this is to realize the significance and meaning of our existence. With the advent of technologies such as the cell phone and the internet, we have had the tendency to ignore this fact, drowning ourselves in this vain technology and forgetting our humanity. The basis for this theme is Japanese artist GACKT CAMUI's story, which spans various mediums and has been collectively titled as the “MOON SAGA”.

Generally, I would describe myself as a graphic designer, not an artist. There is a difference; graphic design has to solve a problem through visual communication, while art does not necessarily have to do this. What I have attempted could be seen as a fusion of the two. What I have done is interpret four of the songs from the saga visually. The text on each piece is taken from the lyrics of each song, the ones that best express the feeling of the story I have projected in my mind.

Imagine a European setting in the year 1600, with two conflicting sides. One perfect clan. One imperfect faction of that clan, built to fight. Two sides of the same person. Which one is real? If you can feel the story, not the narrative, and then act upon my intentions, I believe there is something you will see.

“Angels are but a mold created by the evil inside us. There is no doubt that evil exists, because if it doesn’t, the morals that people cling to will be gone.”
